STILL BODIES: Death Café

  • Beinart Gallery 307 Victoria Street Brunswick, VIC, 3056 Australia (map)

The “D” word has been a taboo topic yet talking about Death can be one of the most eye-opening conversations you’ll ever have.

A Death Café is an opportunity for people from all walks of life to gather, have a cuppa and discuss death in a relaxed, non-denominational setting. In normalising the topic of Death, it is possible to find freedom and a renewed sense of aliveness.

We will make time and space to connect and discuss the end of life. Facilitated by Death Doula, Dina Smirnova, expect to discuss death in small groups with no agenda, objectives or themes. Your curiosity, willingness to share (or just listen) and presence are welcome.

The Death Cafe is in partnership with the incredible artist, Liz Gridley, for her STILL BODIES exhibit at Beinart Gallery in Brunswick.

It will be a limited, ticketed session with all profits to be donated to the Naarm ‘Queer as Death collective,’ a not-for-profit volunteer community organisation that hosts Death Literacy events and advocates for the queer community at end of life.
